Read an article on whats ahead for EPA rules regarding wood and pellet stoves. The rule becomes law on Friday, May 15, 2015, But things most likely won't change until January 2016 from what the article states.

Intersting that the corn, Coal and multifuel stoves aren't covered with any new regulations, But may not be able to be sold as there isn't any testing for corn-coal, And any new stove has to be rated(tested) with the fuel advertised. Hopefully something will be done and testing will be approved for corn and multifuel. With the bad wrap coal has, I'm not sure any stove company will market them after this?

Pretty soon we're going to have to get emissions testing on our stoves like our cars....

Seems like most would pass the particulate standards don't ya think?

Efficiency is interesting. Doesn't need to reach a certain number but needs to be published.

I think most will pass the 2 gram test. I did hear that some of the mixer stoves(like mine) had some issues as they stir the ash pretty much right out the venting.

Be nice to know the "accurate" efficiency ratings. I bet some actually are far under what they are claiming today.

I might or might not pass. Gas, that is. I've got no obd port though. ;)

    Thanks for the link J!
That's a great read for someone like me that has an old smoke dragon FP, and will be upgrading to an efficient insert this fall.

Reading what was posted, it looks like there will be a fire sale ( pun intended) on non epa compliant stoves and boilers at the end of 2015. I'm sure the dealers will try to flip it the other way before the end of the year, but as the deadline looms, they will want/ need to sell to be able to turn those units.

Its a good thing they don't test for those emissions. Some of us would be in trouble(hint-a green furry dude).

Err well so might I too for that matter. Corned beef and cabbage got me banished to the den.

Long as I don't have to hand truck my stove down to the emissions place to get a new Sticker like my Windshield each year I'm ok with it.:headbang:
