It's been pretty warm here so we haven't burned since last Friday night.. That's when I ran out of wood for the year too..lol..

This was our first year burning and owning a home and I think it went really well! I can't thank the members here enough for helping me avoid rookie mistakes like burning wet wood, and maybe more importantly, the value of getting ahead!

The pics below are what I was able to accumulate this year. Most of it will be ready to roll next year since it's a lot of silver maple, ash, pear, and tulip. There's a decent amount of oak I want to hold off on for one more year.

Now if I can work less than 12 hours per day in the near future I will be able to spend more time on this site again! Haven't been on here much lately and miss it!! 20150405_194251.jpg 20150405_194228.jpg 20150405_194213.jpg 20150405_194213.jpg

Love them. My neighbor owns his own truck and gives me his old flatbed tarps. Those are heavy premium tarps. I have one I haven't used yet that's an 8 foot drop so its like 24x28. It has a tear so he can't use it and it showed up in my driveway:D!

I lucked out that we had my father in laws stack for this year. I would have been in bad shape without it. I mixed it with some marginal wood which worked well.

Your stacks look great man! Good work!!

Judging by the amount of wood you have after your first year, it would seem you have been bitten by the wood hoarding bug. There is no cure, you know. Thats why we come to this forum, so we can lean on eachother. We're all just a bunch of wood hoarding freeks!

Pretty good size sapling. Sure you'll enjoy it for many years.

    Your stacks are impressive.

Nice job, keep on cuttin, I know it's tough with the type of work we do, like HDRock said all it seems I do is work eat & sleep doesn't leave much time and energy for wood cuttin but every little bit adds up. Once you get to the 3 years ahead point it's not too hard to keep up with it, gettin there is the hard part. I like the garage in the back ground, yours?

Yeah, this year I bid the Roanoke run instead of Lexington so I leave a lot later and get back a lot later. I still go in early in case I don't make the cut for Roanoke I'm there in time for the shorter run. Anymore I leave the house at 730 in the morning and get home between 7 and 9 pm. The difference in money over last year is nice and I'm working days so I can't complain.

Unfortunately the garage isn't mine. It's my neighbors that gives me his old tarps. It's a nice building but you should see what's in it:drool:.. Some very rare and valuable classic cars..

Well got some more firewood stuff done today. I used to stack on my hardscape but it turned into a mess and I didn't like all the weight up there after thinking about it. Moved it all to the stacking area in the back and built a little bin to hold cookies and cut offs. I have a little more to move once I add something to the front of the bin. Got 2 more rows taped also which is part of next winters wood. 20140805_200615.jpg 20150412_165619.jpg 20150412_170041.jpg 20150412_170050.jpg
