2 large sycamores blew down over the creek on our place last week trapping debris and causing minor problems. The creek was low enough today for me to wade out and cut both trees without getting the bar and chain in water. Much to my surprise the logs I cut free, as well as the wedges I cut and even the saw chips, went right to the bottom! Who knew?!?
Our good friend Barcroftb is not afraid to get his chain in the water. This was at one of our GTG's (in 2017)
Spring 2011 i cut a storm felled white oak along the riverbank here. Had to stand in the water to buck the top end and did cut a couple under water. More than once ive bucked a hollow log with water inside. Kinda catches you off guard when the saw starts spitting water and chips!
This was during our 2017 GTG (one can find it in the Everything Else forum). Just prior to our GTG we had a bunch of rain. It was a real mess in places. Fortunately though, most of our land was dry as we are on yellow sand. However, in the low spots when it gets really wet, it can get nasty. I'm happy to say this part of the lane has been fixed. I hauled a bunch of sand in and some rocks too.
Well Barcroftb doesn't make many mistakes but maybe he is just a tad color blind. Maybe if we keep working on him he will get a Stihl.
