Been a crazy busy year yet again, the past two weeks have been exceptionally busy....Thanksgiving for 17 guests, with a 22lb turkey and a smoked 9lb breast.....

Then after a long hard day of hunting on the first day of PA rifle season, my youngest son Dan cashed in on a nice 8pt....

Then the wife started digging out all the Christmas decorations so the tree work (I'm backed up for MONTHS) had to stop because we got a railroad to build in our living room!

First was the family trip in the F250 Powerstroke Sleigh to two different tree farms before we could find a suitable 12 foot tree (man, the tall trees are SCARCE in these parts, and EXPENSIVE!!)

Finally found one, brought her home (thankfully we took the trailer and they twined it for me).

Dug out the platform which was buried in the garage (as some of yinz may remember this thing is 27' long once assembled, it's over 6' wide and barely fits through the door in two pieces)

We've spent the entire afteroon/evening getting the lights in it, my little "elf on the shelf" (aka Mrs. Overkill) is putting the magic touches on it right now. Stay tuned for more if you need a Christmas fix....

There it is! Thats what I've been looking forward to! :D Honestly, I don't know why I haven't picked up a train set myself. (?)

I had to laugh when I saw the family pic in the car for the tree trip. Sitting in the middle of the back always put a smile on my face too.....

Comgrats to your son on his nice buck!

Looking forward to completed pics. :handshake:

My oldest son, as many of you know, is autistic, and you may not believe it, but he's all smiles until the camera comes out.....he HATES having his picture taken!! Lol! But he absolutely loves this time of year and is pretty much in charge of the railroad all season. I help with tune-ups and track maintenance, he does the rest.

I was super proud of my youngest son Dan for that hunt, we put in almost 10 miles walking on the mountain the whole day the snow and wind, came back home and hunted my wonderful neighbors farm that evening and he got that nice buck.....I just enjoyed having the whole day with him, being he's away at college all week. There's still 3 other nice bucks over there, hoping to cash in myself this week some evening.

Honestly, we kicked around not doing the big layout/tree this year on account of how busy we've been, but the kids protested and won out.....lol

I'm glad we are doing it, it is a long-standing tradition in this home.

Will do brother, how's you and the family doing?

I may be traveling to Gettysburg for a weekend trip, I'm co-host of the National Maverick Meet next year and we will be doing it in Gettysburg this coming July, me and a buddy from Virginia need to scope out activities for the week, we're going to do that sometime in the next month or so.

Challenging times for all but we're soldiering through. I'll definitely tell my BIL about the Mav meet. I'm sure he'll go. Ya'll will have lots of awesome photo ops in the Battlefields. If you want a good pizza/sub night, eat at Tommy's. The Dobbin house is a great experience but it's a little spendy upstairs. Down in the basement is the Springhouse Tavern. We eat there frequently.
