    1" sch 40 aluminum pipe 36" long. 1*1/4" sch 40 for a sleeve at the top to add strength. 1/2"x6" threaded rod for the pick. And a little hockey tape for grip. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

    So what's your opinion on how it handles the wood? I'm sure the light weight helps the swing... Any vibration in that aluminum?

    I haven't tried it out yet. Just stuck it in a split in the basement for the picture. I'm going to try it out today after work.

    If the threaded rod ends up bending on ya, you can heat it up and Quench it to harden it , or get an grade 8 bolt , that's what I used

    It works pretty good. I need to do some work on it tho. I need to tig weld the sleeve to the handle. Then I need to do some work to the pick. Even with the nuts tightened right down, they loosened and it would spin on me. I have a couple of ideas as to what I might do.

    Like when I'm splitting to lengthen my arm reach. Its a bit shorter and a smaller tip than the one that I'll be making for my regular one. But I just wanted something to see if it would work.

    Yes, just a few. It did alright on my ash and oak. But my Honey Locust it just bounced off. The one that jetjr and the one that Brian had shown. Had more weight on the ends, plus a sharper point than what mine does. Probably will be added on my next one...

    Looks like a well made one :yes:

    Made one a few years back.
    Now it has some pink duct tape on it so I can find it. Use it a lot.
