Weird Wood!

    It is a shelf fungus. I find them a lot on locust.

    Some people have the talent to turn them into art. Myself, I would just date it and scratch in where it was found/what we were doing/the occasion etc.

    yooperdave Wow! We actually have a guy wanting to buy it and a burl we found in the same batch of logs, he’s just starting out with woodwork, still on a small scale. The burl isn’t huge, about the size of a tire rim for a car, kinda, sorta..loll

    Those fungus are called conchs here in the PNW. Nice ones are in demand by artists and wood workers, especially with bark attached. I used to do some pen and ink sketches on some we would find hunting and even sold a few. Cool that someone wants to buy them and the burl! What a nice plus to the firewood!
