I just ordered a new MS 461 to go with my 372xp and MS 261.

I was running a 28" oregon bar and chain on the husky. The 461 comes with a 24" of the same chain specs, just Stihl brand.

I know its the sensible thing to put the stihl 24" bar on the 372 and the Oregon 28" on the 461. Sacreligous for sure. I'm just not sure if I'll be able to look at it!

Am I missing something here. I run whatever bars I can get that fit my mounts- seldom the same brand name as saw.

No,no,no, you are absolutely Not Allowed to run a Stihl bar on a Husky (or vice-versa). Totally against the rules (unless you slap a Husky sticker over Stihl).

I currently have a Husqvarna branded Oregon bar on a Makita. The blue lettering on the bar sorta complements the saw plastic. Most of the paint is worn off though, so it's getting hard to distinguish.

That could be a problem for you. The paint on Stihl bars seems to hold up much better.

I guess I have no choice - buy new Sugihara bars for both!

You could just stock up on Tsumura.

I'm not a brand fan boy so I've run husky bars on stihl and stihl on husky. Grind the groove and the oiler holes and let it go.

Dg, you're gonna dig that stihl 461. I've cut a good 5 cords up with mine so far and it's a good one. Wouldn't mind a 372xp either, I'm thinking I'm gonna buy a good smaller pro husky or dolmar one of these years.

Must be why that Home Depot 6400 Makita got surly- forced to wear a Home Depot branded bar.

I'm hoping so. My boss said "now you're in the big leagues" he's not a husky fan.

I may sell my 372 now - it' runs solid but it idles a little funny. I might just send it off for a little repair and tuning work instead.

Good call on the MS461. It's a classic. I really like mine with the plain-Jane 25" Stihl ES bar. However, I do have a 20" Tsumura and a 32" ES, just because.

I have a 28" Sugi on the way now so that I can use my heap of 28" loops.
