Purchased a $5.00 golf bag cart and turned it into a weed eating machine on wheels.

Ha! I love it. Figure out how to fit a 9 iron on there and get some practice swings in while eating weeds. Train the dog to fetch the golf balls.
rotti types too fast. My response was to Doug, not rotti.:picard:

I went to a battery powered weed wacker because of the weight. Hard to hold it and use a cane to keep from falling over. That cart can serve as a cane and hold the weight of the wacker.

Ingenious! I'll bet you could sell a bunch of those if you were so minded.

There is a version of that available, but it cost a whole lot more and isn't as light weight. [IMG]

Well yeah, but for a lightweight machine that doesn't cost much, I'll bet there are a lot of people that would go for it. I for one dislike holding even my battery powered weedeater (I'm female so have less upper body strength than guys, am old, and literally don't have some muscle groups that need to be involved). But I don't need an expensive monster machine like what you have pictured since I am a minimalist on yardwork necessity so I only weed eat 1-3 times per season. And by minimalist, I mean that mowing and weedeating do not actually accomplish much besides beating down stuff that was planted on purpose to grow - is that crazy or what? That is why I try to make areas that I have to do minimal maintenance to and get maximum enjoyment from (flower gardens, vegetable gardens, seating areas and such).

If it is a edge that you wouldn't mind having no grass or weed, you can take some white vinegar, add some dawn dish detergent and some salt, then spray it on the unwanted grass and weeds early in the morning on one of these warm sunny days. By days end you can see the results. Doesn't kill the weeds that spread by root system unless you have repeated applications. For me, it is fantastic because I don't worry about any harm to animals. You can apply with anything that will spray. The finer the mist, the better. I've done it with just the white vinegar, but the mix with the soap is better having it stick to the weeds and not bead off.

I've tried the vinegar solution on a hot, sunny day and most of the stuff I sprayed didn't even care (I used commercial cleaning strength vinegar too). Most of the stuff that grows around here is root system spreading - that's the only thing that survives my neglect of the lawn (no watering, no fertilizer, no weed killer).
