Who else gets chills thinking about a trip they need to take to WalMart. Often, those trips are very unpleasant for any number of reasons. It isn't just the walking displays with not enough clothing covering pendulous boobs or plumber's crack. Our local walmart was the scene of two gun shooting incidents. Well here is something of a potential mind changer. I saw two Walmart employees filling shopping orders that the shopper just picks up at curbside. These shoppers were picking out fresh fruit and vegetables for several tots for orders make on line. Both these pickers were men. They were very careful with their selections. picked items up, turn it over, looked at it very carefully as if it were their own. I mean they were more careful with the tomatoes, grapes, and strawberries than I ever am,. Just think, you go online and submit your order. Wait the selected time then park your car, announce you are there. Someone brings your order to you and you are on your way. you get what you wanted and don't step foot into the store. Next best part is there is little to no impulse spending this way. Hard not to like this. I'll be thinking about this next time I am making out my shopping list.
When my daughter was young we had a game called “is that a man or a woman?” We would play at Walmart! We buy a lot of items from Walmart online. Orders over $35 have free shipping. We buy coffee, tea, toilet paper and other such items from them. This allows my wife to spend much less time in the grocery store. We have a nice Hannaford in a small town that she stops at on her way home.
I think there are some other stores playing around with this idea. It could work out so long as the pickers are careful but let them try to get rid of the questionable items and that would so south fast. Other stores are even making deliveries to your home but usually that is only if you live close to the store. Here, we're 25 miles to the closest store like walmart or other big stores.
Did you know that Hannaford offers that same shopping feature, (not the shipping) of curb side pick up? One of my daughter in-laws is a frequent user of that service. They have a $5 service charge she says it is well worth it in her busy schedule.
I've been driving for Wal Mart for 11 years and I absolutely HATE this whole mess. I think it's a great option for the elderly and disabled but other than that, it's just encouraging laziness and taking store employees away from actually maintaining the store itself. Most of the time, it's younger people who just sit in the car playing on their phones while someone else shops and loads the items for them. A totally useless system. The stores are understaffed as it is. Sent from my Moto E (4) using Tapatalk
When I have both kids by myself ,that's the best thing since sliced bread. We rarely use it, but it saves some sanity when those little demons see that you've pulled up to a store all by yourself with them. I love my kids and they're not really demons..... Time and place, and sometimes that service is a gift. And sometimes when you pull up and it's a single person in the car I'm like it has to be quicker to just go in. I will however never understand using a leash on a child, that was seen today at the wallymart, I mean "I get it" but I could never actually put a leash on my kid to go to the store.
