Mt neighbor and OWB owner - who is cutting a lot has raved about the Versacut bar and chain. The outdoor equipment / Husky dealer whom I do business with , recommended this unit saying it’s the setup most of their saw customers use. He says it has lasted him significantly longer than the Stihl brands.

like me he has a mix of Stihl and Husky saws. Is this the way to go?

I’d say there’s many variables in bar and chain longevity. I’d say a hand filers chains last longer regardless of brand. A careful and controlled sawyers chains will last longer. IMO the brand bar doesn’t matter for a firewood cutter. It’s not going to matter for a firewood cutter with multiple saws. My professional experience is Stihl chain is more durable. Holds an edge longer. Huskvarna x-cut being a close second. My personal preference is Stihl bars on Stihls and Husky bars on Huskvarna. Under professional use I have seen many Stihl bars wear out. At home for firewood use, the only bar that is at risk of being retired for excessive wear is the 16” bar on my 261. It gets the most use.
No personal experience with Versacut, but I have seen a few chainsaws on this forum wearing them. My advice would be try one and let us know what you think.
I have more bars than I have chainsaws.

I’ve been running a VersaCut on my 028 for close to a year. As far as rail wear goes, IMO it’s comparable to a Stihl bar. There are much better bars out there, but also a lot worse.
