In the spirit of full disclosure, this is more or less a preemptive post. I do not have updated photos of this saw and would not actually be able to box & ship it until after Thanksgiving. The reason I'm doing this is because I'm having shoulder surgery on December 4th (one week after Thanksgiving) and after that I'll be unable to do any boxing/shipping/saw work for awhile. I'll try to get photos of it posted the Monday following thanksgiving. Prior to getting modded this was a brand new Stihl MS261 (adjustable carb). I purchased it quite awhile back from a local-to-me member from AnotherSite with the intention of having it ported. I changed my mind and posted it here for sale awhile back. I didn't have any takers, so after changing my mind a few more times on the fate of the saw I ended up having it ported after all. A friend of mine is building a strong name for himself on AnotherSite for doing port work and saw modding and he did the work on this one. It has a number carved/scratched into the front of the case. When I was interested in purchasing it this drew my curiosity, so I had a Stihl dealer run the serial number and it came up clean. That's all I can tell you about that. If you're familiar with the work that gets done to these saws, the builders have two approaches. This one still has the strato system intact. It has a pop up piston with the base cut. The port work includes changes to the transfers, intake and exhaust. The stock muffler opening has been expanded up as well. Compression is at 215 psi. It runs and sounds great. This is a solid little work saw. It's new other than having been run for tuning & testing purposes. I'll get updated photos after the holiday, but frankly the only difference from the photos that can be found at the link below is that is has a little run time and the muffler has been modded. Buyer can have their choice between rim sprockets; 3/8-7T, .325-7T, or .325-8T. I'm asking $725 PHO shipped & insured to the lower 48. I will gladly ship to AK, HI, or internationally, but additional shipping charges may apply. We'll determine that based on the cost to ship to the closest point to you in the lower 48 and any extra will be added to the sale price. I'm only interested in selling - no trades. Payment via PayPal to friends/family or for goods/services with 3% added to cover fees. I will also accept a Postal Money Order, but the saw will not ship until the PMO has been received and cashed. There are a bunch of photos available for your viewing pleasure on photo bucket . . . just click HERE. Again, these are from when it was out of the box. I'll get some new photos posted after Thanksgiving, but if anyone is interested in the meantime you'll get priority pending the photos.
*** CYBER MONDAY SPECIAL!! *** As promised, I'll get some 'post-mod' photos this evening after work, but for today & tomorrow I'll go $700 shipped and insured and will throw in a brand new 18" Stihl Rollomatic bar and Stihl 26RMC3-74 chain. I would really like to find this saw a new home before I'm out of commission. I'm not desperate, but I'm thinking very seriously about it!
Below are current photos of the saw. It's not spotless, but I quickly cleaned it with a rag and some compressed air. Before taking these photos I drained the fuel, ran it dry, and drained the bar oil. What you see is exactly how it will arrive.
Buying this one might make you feel better about passing up MasterMech's MS261C-M. What fun are stock saws anyways....
