Got lots of air space for sure. I'm sure if I were still splitting by hand, 70% of these would be split. Maul would've just bounced Some bogged down the splitter pretty good. Couple really bowed / bent / twisted ones:
I've got a lot of those on my hands from a maple right now. I'm sick of my maul bouncing off so if you could do me a favor.... Take a spin down and over to Pennsylvania with your splitter for me.. Your stacks are so aesthetically pleasing I'll even let you do that.. .. I'll watch with a beer..
Maple, splitter never seen maple. Might be better to noodle Mom lives in Pittsburgh, she's in her 80s, maybe shell come over & split em. LOL
It's all good bogydave , as nice as your cordwood looks (even with the views you have) the uglies are just as nice looking. To a trained hoarders eye, its what Stephiedoll says...it's all BTU's
+1 It's all BTUs To be honest, before I became a "wood snob" I've had to burn worse. One year, all I had was 1/2 punky wood , (pretty dry). burned up fast. Was able to be pretty picky in the woods this year, was the first cutter in a new area. Fell some nice trees. Was a lot of fun (well except for one hanger that I fought 3 hours to get down)
Kinda , we have the "January thaw" 40° & up days. Just watched the weather forecast a bad storm headed our way. Tropical storm that missed Japan headed this way , to strengthen & hit the west coast of AK. Big enough to move cold air your way. & Push it all the way to Florida. Those pineapple-express storms usually bring us warm temps, (mid 40°s) Predict 45' waves in the Bering Sea. Mother Nature's art. Some board out of some of those real wavy ones would make some pretty good looking wood projects
that wood will burn fine. In nevada here, my favorite firewood is almond, you should see the uglies from that 80%, the tees grow to 20-30ft and branchy but a top hardwood, low ash high heat coaling low smoke they swap out the almond trees for every 6-8 years in calif, thats what we get
Yea, it burns fine I use it in the burn pit for cook outs & " BS'g, beer drinking & solve the worlds problems" fires Some is used for shoulder season fires & it's nice to have fire pit wood Heard some of the almond farmers had to let many tress die, lack of water due to the drought . True ?
