Ugly grub ID

    Anyone got an idea what this is? There was 3 of em together in a standing dead elm. I’ve seen them before but always just one at a time A6561762-2D49-4D02-B6C2-D4917150E330.jpeg

    Not sure of what it is but i find similar grubs in badly rotted/composted sections of logs. Found this one in a pin oak crotch while splitting last month. Split the log and a bunch of black dirt falls out with some of the grubs. Forgot i had the pic on my phone when my camera was broken. Biggest ive ever seen. Thats my pinky for scale.     I have seen them too. Ive heard they are locust larvae, but I've not ever confirmed.

    Looks like the ones I found in a Box Elder tree last week...posted a pic here but nobody seemed to know for sure what they were, except for a couple smart azzes...:rofl: :lol:
