Hello I purchased the Honeywell RCW251N wired or wireless door bell because it is 3 channel for 3 doors. It does say by setting the chime boxes to the same digital code more than 1 chime box can be placed in different parts of the home in the wireless installation. I really hate changing batteries so if I purchase 100 feet of 5 conductor thermostat wire for $50 dollars for 100 feet and wire the two boxes together then would it work? $50 once instead of $5.00 in batteries every year would be cheaper and easier in the long haul? So has anyone tried that? Yes it does! So I have 18-5 wire they I can run between the two chime boxes. The new 3 Rd door is close to the 2nd chime box so I can run that door bell switch to the second chime box and that should work too right?
I would think so. Do yourself a favour and hook it all up on your kitchen table before you start routing wires.
I just have a "go away" sign up at the road those that make it down just stick their head in the door and holler.
Hello Well just a little Simple Simon Doorbell wiring did the trick! The house front door bell button can be heard in the workshop door bell button Can be heard in the house! I put a metal junction box in the attic and wired 2 - 5 conductor jacketed wires to each chime box, one replacing the original door bell in the main hallway of the house and the other chime box in the workshop. The front and back door bell buttons were wired to the attic junction box. It was easier to wire the new workshop door bell button to the new workshop chime box. Lots of wires but NO Batteries! (8 "C" size - 4 for each chime box and 3 button batteries for each wireless button) See pics Pic 1 - wire diagram Pic 2 - workshop chime box Pic 3 - Home chime box Pic 4 & 5 - No batteries needed with hard wir s!
