Never saw an insert, cool! I was thinking it sure would be nice to have a truck with a dump bed and google found this. If you had, say, a one ton truck, might be a fairly painless way to get a dump bed? Anyone know anything on it?

I came close to buying an EZ Dumper for my K2500 work truck this past fall but my daily driver needed to be replaced so I ended up buying a new daily driver instead. Prices are up on these due to the covid crap. I should have bought 2-3 years ago when I first started looking at them.

Do your research. There are several brands out there that offer different features and dump at different angles.

Those easydumpers and dumperdogs inserts are popular around here. you can also make your pickup into a dump bed

I’m guessing with the bed inserts there’s a big trade-off between loss of carrying space and the convenience of the dump.

Almost bought a used truck with one preinstalled when I was looking for a new truck.
Here’s my thoughts after all was said and done. They add quite a bit of height to the bed height which on many newer trucks is too high already :) I’m short and broken. Need a ladder just to get in my bed already :)
You also loose quite a bit of flat width on the models I’ve seen because of the fender wells. No more sheets of plywood laying flat.
If you load with machines none of this may matter. If you split wood on site and toss aboard this may not matter.
You want to toss big rounds up there this may matter.
Personally I’m happy I went with the low profile dump trailer.

I would imagine you would lose weight capacity with one of those inserts, especially on a half ton pickup.
