    Saw this yesterday while hiking in the Adirondacks. Trees will do almost anything to live.

    That’s the blind determination of nature right there. Sometimes you come across one with a big air gap under the roots and the tree looks like it’s up on its tippy toes. That’s where it started life on top of a rotting stump, fed off it, sent roots down the sides, and eventually the stump underneath rotted away completely.

    We have friends that own a camp with a tree like that, the camp name is Pine Rock, the diameter of the base of the tree is bigger than the rock it sits on, kinda odd looking.
