Two years ago i had no idea what this tree was but thanks to FHC i now know. Here are the bark pics. I will post the leaf pics tomorrow evening and the answer Saturday evening. I will not confirm or deny any guesses.
third guess is Peruvian Sasquatch Because my first declaration would be White Ash. still working on a second guess which I think will be a poplar of sort. I’ve been fooled before.
My guess too. That stuff and basswood, looking at the trunk bark, makes you think it's something really nice. But it's just gopher wood.
Black gum seems right. Although, black gum here has much more of a pattern to its bark. From pics I have seen, I do think states farther north have bark like that. Here, the older trees, it's very dramatic, like an alligator hide, heavily furrowed.
I’ve got a big one in my yard that I’ll get a pic of tomorrow. I’m around it all the time while cutting and splitting and I couldn’t id Brad’s bark pic.
Yeah, that's definitely nothing that we have here where I live. Which would explain why it wasn't familiar to me
