Sad news. Logging is the most dangerous profession in the US, and I assume this gets put in that category. On top of that it’s a small business, so probably more than a couple families affected.

Chainsaws and trees is dangerous stuff. These stories are a reminder that I am far too complacent most of the time. I do like to think I'm good at identifying risk, but my mitigation of such is not as good as it could be.

It is a very dangerous profession that demands great respect! The people doing this work hard every day and it's very sad to hear something like this when it happens. Everyone on this forum with any time behind a saw and firewood know's this. R.I.P. :(

Agree with everyone else and can't like the post. Sad day and I hope the lord can give those affected some comfort and peace during these hard days.

Very sad! My buddy told me of an owner from the okemos area, if I remember correctly. Husband and wife owned the company. Guy in bucket cutting section out that came down across the boom. He wasn’t tied in on the bucket. Started cutting the piece to free it, not realizing the boom was preloaded with tension. It launched him across the yard like a catapult and he died from his injuries. After the tragedy of losing her husband, MIOSHA came after her with extensive fines. Not sure how it all ended for her, but can’t imagine having to go through that!
