Had a tree service drop off logs for the first time. Some pine, some ash and some of this. [IMG]

Any chance it could be Box Elder? My FIL swears it is, which would be disappointing given the other options

Box elder looks more like ash in the bark and color of the wood. Show us a split pic of the yeller wood if you get a chance.

Looks like MB. Chris. Lots of bark variations from older (big) trees to younger trees.

Thanks for the help. It’s pretty wet, i imagine it’ll look more like your split after it dries some.

My pic was from a smaller piece of limb. Here's what it will look like after being exposed to sun after a couple of weeks.

I've played around with varying MC and over 15% will give you more sparks. Also have to crack the door for a minute before opening wide. Like Chvymn99 said, good smoking wood.
