For the rare occasion when I need to do that I just put it in the bucket. When the bucket is full of wood I put it on top of the wood.

I'll put my comment about push mowers and chainsaw carriers in another thread I guess.
Was it RCBS or Woodsnwoods had a thread recently with the saw mounted vertical in front of the tractor? It looked proper.

I usually use my quad for cutting firewood and trails since the tractor is a bit big for my right trails. I did make a couple scabbards for the tractor but there just isn't s great place to put them on mine. I do plan on getting a carryall and attaching the scabbards to a trailer mover I have for the 3 point but those are winter projects that might not get done wuntil next year:). For now I just throw everything in the bucket or the trailer if I do take the tractor.

Sorry I am not much help:) tractorbynet has a lot of great solutions depending on the make and model of your tractor.

Pretty safe spot right there. Had one fall out of the bucket once.:emb: it got a little squished.

I might rethink that carrying spot only because it is easy to back into a tree and mash your saw. The same with carrying it in the bucket...unseen it is easy to forget it is there and dump it out, or go to move something and mash the saw.

Skidder: On my skidder I carry the saw on the floorboard of the cab, It says on its side, "bar towards the brake" which is the only position that holds it well.
Tractor: I carry my saw on a homemade wooden box that fits the saw right on the fender
Bulldozer: I carry my saw in an identical wooden box on the side of my bulldozer

I dislike scabbards only because a person has to lift the saw so far out of the scabbard.

What kind of tractor have you got? I've got a bunch of 40's vintage equipment and the saw either goes on the wagon, in my hand or on the floor board. My best suggestion would be to make up a nice box or vertical scabbard set up that's easy to get to and out of the way. Most of the time I drive in and then set it by a tree with my chaps on it somewhere well away from the work area or walk in the rest of the way and do all the cutting I can first. Mainly keeping the tractor and saw as far apart as possible. They look funny after a couple ton of iron or wood rolls over them o_O

I borrowed this idea from the googlewebs. Cutting board from Walmart, some stainless fasteners, and a few clamps. It was made quick and dirty, so not factory looking, but it works very well. The cutting board material will not dull the chain when inserting or drawing.

Just cut thin strips of material and sandwich them between the outer pieces leaving a cavity for the saw bar. I built this one to be able to hold any of my saws, up to a 3/8 24". Only drawback I have found that it is mounted a little bit high. I'm tall, and 1-handed extraction is not easy. Two hands, no problem. The brush guard was a convenient place to mount for me. I'm sure with a little thought, I could find several ways/places to mount it. Previous to this, I carried saws in the small space behind the seat where the "toolbox" is on my Kubota. This is much, much better.

Edit: Need to mention the top...I added an extra strip of material to make it wider so that the case of the saw is not bearing the load. The spike/s are bearing the downward load. Oh, and leave the bottom open so chips and oil can make their way out.

If I'm going cutting I take the Ranger which has my saw box in the back:

If I'm taking the tractor out then it's for skidding and my winch is on the back. I made a scabbard similar to RCBS's above, but I used some leftover Ipe decking. Not the greatest photos of it...

I like the cutting board Idea also. Very neat and clean look to it. The husky box where does it go on a tractor? I can see it on the rear rack of a ATV.

I load them in the bucket . They are bungee corded in with the bars pointed forward as a visual reminder to not go using the bucket to dig ,or lift things . . .

I have a BX 2660. but I'm not sure it's a 'tractor'. I think it's too small to be called a real 'tractor' and too big to be called a lawn mower, so I call it my ULAV a.k.a. Urban Lawn Assult Vehicle:p I carry my saw on the left side floor with a bungee cord holding it in place.

I've used it very little for carrying a saw but when I did have to take it I just put it into the bucket. I suspect most times I'll just continue to take the saw when I'm taking the atv. Then I'll get the tractor for skidding.

That box goes in the back of my Polaris Ranger side by side. I stated that in my post.
