Nice little video there. 2 or3 pounds of kindling seems like a lot to me, but I don't usually weigh it, but I don't think it's all that much.

Yeah, that's a lot of kindling, even for a cold start.
    Lots of paper too.o_O

I use much less paper and kindling but do use 1/4 of a Super Cedar and that's all it takes. I bought a box of 50 SuperCedars in early 2012 and still have a good portion of the box. :)

I guess if you think of the first load as the quickest way to a coal bed then something like this video is one way.
Then you can load an overnight load on the new coal bed.

I just load it up, even on a cold start. Bigger stuff in the back and on the bottom, then some smaller splits in front and kindling on top of that. Couple little SuperCedar chunks are lit and put on top/front. After they get burning, a couple more kindling on top. Heats the top of the stove for a quick cat light and I'm done until it's time for another load.

If your splits are dry; just take a few of the smaller ones and use 1/4 SuperCedar. Works every time!!

Apparently Ive been doing it all wrong:( I never use paper or kindling just 2-3 regular splits and small chunk of a super cedar.

Nice video/I just don't like using newspaper. Can easily start a chimney fire.
