Boy, what a saw!! It might not be fuel injected and have all the trick ''stuff'' but, with a full skip chain on it, and a 28'' bar this thing flat out cuts!! I cut some heavy burled maple chunks today. They were probably 3' in diameter and about that tall. That's why they need cutting up, they are too big to handle. Haven't used the 266 for some time, and it was sure fun. I left my friend a lot of nice chips, and plenty of cut up wood. Had to cut some with the grain, against the grain, you name it, i cut it which ever way it would come apart. Even noodled some. Sure its heavy, but, it gives a guy a good work out, and its sure fun to use it. I've got a 261 Stihl, its lighter, probably faster, but, the old 266XP is sure a good old saw!!

I have a 266 also. The old two series Husqvarna are rock solid performers.

Real fond of two series , 254 ,257,262,266,298 sometime would like 242, 272,288 hate to chose favorites but I think the 262 and the 266 are top notch saws

I love the 266XP - It was my first saw, was my dads. It got to the point where it was too much for him to pull start so he got a 272XP with the comp button and gave me the 266XP. Man I’ve cut a lot of wood with that thing, so did he.

    I agree on the 2 series saw being workhorses. I’ve since added a 262xp, and a 288.
