Too much wood?

I know, it’s a silly question in general, LOL!
I was showing my dad the progress I’ve made with the wood pile. I’ve got about 11 cords and my goal would be to get to about 15 total and maintain that level going forward. I live on a half acre plot. He told me his friend told him a story about a guy he knew having the fire marshal tell him he had to get rid of some of the wood because it was creating a fire hazard.
I don’t know the specifics of that story, but was curious if anyone has here has ever heard of such a thing. My guess is that there was either a real busy body neighbor/bad blood that caused that to happen. With a new neighbor moving in within next month, my dad’s story concerned me a bit. I’m always neighborly and friendly, but I suppose you never know how a new neighbor will be.

 

Anything’s possible. Seeing it’s neat and orderly I doubt they’d bother you though. Can always bring your extra to your fathers to store........or to my house

 

We live in CT . Our state makes there own rules.

 

It’s also equally possible your new neighbor is a fellow hoarder and soon the both of you will be locked in a one-upmanship contest, building towering stacks skyward in an attempt to be the winner... hey, stranger things have happened!

oh and id say 15 cords is prob a good bench mark for firewood for a person to have anywere. here in southeastern wv typically by the end of may i usually have about 16 to 18 maybe a bit more cords of wood on hand

 

I would say it is no body business how much wood you have and I would not even tell them unless you know them real well. If you are in the city I can see some stupid rule like that but if you are out in the country no body is going to care. JMO.

 

Rules for our retirement place search :
1. Not MA. or CT. ( regs and taxes)
2. I have to be able to pee in the 4 cardinal directions without anyone getting their panties in a tear.
3. Woodlot--large enough for 100% heating.
4. Small town.

 

I totally hear ya. My next door neighbor passed away last month... really nice guy and he'll be missed. Now I'm starting to worry if my new neighbor is going to be just as nice or if they're going to be the kind of people that like to be in your business. We'll see... I hope for the former. I'm always helpful and friendly with my neighbors. I'll do small engine work, electronics repair, and limbing to help them out. Good luck on the new neighbor, Woodtick. Let us know how it goes.

Well if a fire Marshall ever said that to me I’d explain the fire hazard of burning green wood.
I wouldn’t mention the 100+ pounds of gunpowder I still have in the house. That’s between me and God

 

And #5, be able shoot your gun off front porch and not bother anyone.
