I do most of my gathering in the summer. My modest wood hauling setup (lawnmower and trailer) doesn't do very good in snow or wet ground.

In fact I think I'll be doing a quite a bit of firewood this weekend. My buddy who owns a tree service is coming over to help me take down a 5 stem red maple that's threatening my garage.

No. I tried the night thing and just too many skeeters. Just go slow and hydrate often.

I go horiz or vert, but she's a bigger fan of plopping her fanny down on a crate....
That pic was from last summer. She's still a vert fan!

BTW I think it too hot, but If had to get it down and done. I would do it, and have done it in this weather before. I just rather not given the choice. A friend wants me to take some trees down and grab the wood, I asked him how about in the fall, he said fine.

No you are not the only one. I've been waiting on the firewood but I've worked my way through most of my other summer projects by this point. I may cut some tomorrow but if I do I'm planning on being at it starting by 6am. This morning I was mowing grass at 7 am. Get the work done as early as I can so I can relax and have a beer in front of the fan in the afternoon - that's my plan for these hot days. Creek chub, what part of Virginia are you in?

I've hit it hard the last couple evenings. Just bought sonotubes today to pour the footers for the new woodshed. I work outside all day so I guess I just deal with it. Shade is important and plenty of beer...I mean water. I still whine and cry about the heat and sweat like crazy.

I've got the itch to run the saw and splitter a bit so might give it a go for a couple hours in the morning starting at 6 am. My area is shaded up until about 11 or so. One of these days I'll buy one of those easy up canopies maybe.

Sweet pic, I love your fence too. Built 1 like that, but a little higher when I was younger for my Mom for her horses. I had to pre drill all the holes before I could nail it to the post. The boards were so hard it would bend the galvanized nails.
