Beech and one piece of mulberry packed to the grills actual 4F real feel of -3F . The house is a comfy 73f in the farthest point.
Looks like a good fire for 4 degrees out... I'm down to 7 here , going down to -1 tonight, then a high of 7 tomorrow,,, not getting above 19 all week... PH is taking care of things nicely... Miss Esse is holding her own as well, plus cooking and warming food...
The old farmhouse is at 77 here and 6 degrees out... Looks like your nice and toasty Dennis...makes you feel good about burning wood and all the work involved...
4° outside and 76° upstairs and 74° downstairs. I normally load the wood stove in the a.m. before work, but the last few weeks, I have decided against it (lazy). Normally the basement is warmer than upstairs, all the time. It's coming up now, and the basement will be warmer, but by morning, it drops and I let the fire fade out. Opening the air 100% before I go to work. Upstairs temp. Downstairs temp.
You guys have been wanting to burn hot & clean out the pipes. Let'r rip for a few days. Saw the news saying "people should be turning their furnace thermostats down to conserve fuel, " one said down to 60° & were a sweater. LOL Wood burners can turn the stats off, & have a warm toasty home with temps in the 70s. Ain't wood heat wonderful
Funny thing I just heard this today too. http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/...yder-declares-emergency-over-propane-shortage LANSING — Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has declared an emergency because of a temporary shortage of heating oil and propane caused by increased demand in recent subzero weather. Snyder said Friday the shortage also is due to heavy snowfall that delayed delivery of heating oil and propane. The governor’s executive order suspends regulations to allow fuel trucks to be on the road more hours and more days in a row to deliver heating oil and propane. The order is effective immediately and will stay intact until Jan. 31 or until it’s rescinded, whichever occurs first.
Nice looking fire Pete, hopefully we'll get a break from this cold. They're calling for 3-6 inches of snow on Friday - Saturday, if we get 4 or more the sleds are going down the road an on the county trails for a ride.
My wife made me laugh today at work. She read an article about this and sent me an e-mail about it. Subject Line: Another reason you're great! Body: You definitely get gold stars for all our wood this year!!(and just one of the reasons I rarely say anything about your obsession. LOL)
There aint no way I want to live in a house that is 60 degrees..... Another good reason to burn wood.
