So I was thinking about purchasing a new splitter but the sentimental value of this one is strong. I remember using lawn money and persuading my parents to loan me money to go to farm and fleet in Sturtevant WI and buy the splitter. It came as a kit, all components in OEM boxes. All the memories!! Time to upgrade. Figured I'd start with the pump. I looked at surplus center and the 22 gpm and the 28 gpm pumps are on backorder. Anyone recommend another supplier that they like?
Do you know if the 28 gpm is iron or aluminum? $220 vs $500 for the concentric Haldex one that Northern China tool is selling has me wondering.
45 years is a good run! I like that you're willing to put effort into dressing her up instead of discarding and starting anew. I, too, get attached to tools, machines, guns, and vehicles that have given me good service through the years. My '86 Ranger was finally retired from being a daily driver in 2017, mostly because the rust problems finally became overwhelming. Good luck! Post photos of what you end up doing, if you're able. I always enjoy learning from others' experiences.
Mine was aluminum, most of them are on log splitters made in the last 15-20 years...they seem to hold up pretty well though. Their pic of the 28 gpm looks pretty similar to the 16 gpm I bought.
