I stuff it before I go to sleep usually, and sure did last night, was in the 30s. Difference is I'm using some semi crappy wood so it works well for this phase of the season. After a few weeks though, I get into the "good stock" of red oak and maple for the rest of the winter.

Cold in Alaska.............warm in the lower 48. Twas 71* Sunday, 59* yesterday and it's in the mid 50's now. The weather liars are calling for mild weather here for at least the next 10 days. No major weather changes predicted.

40 is a really nice temperature for splitting wood. Very enjoyable. Good luck.

It still seems way too early to see a load like that going into a stove!

Can't you back off a little? Please?
