In a beautiful place. The wind is making the trees do the preaching. A good sermon indeed.

The first log should be a 24 footer, I hope. Another small 8 footer out of that tree as well. In the back you can see a decent size Ash all spread out. That will make some nice firewood in the future. Now to find the next straight good size Pine.

    More to come.

I was able to fell three good size Pine today. From them, three logs that are over 24'. And a few logs that are 8'-12'-6". Not bad for the little time that I had. I had about 4 hours before I had to be back home to hang out with my son while Mom and the girls went to the movies.

These Pines were planted in the early sixties as a Christmas tree farm. Some have grown nice and straight. Time to get this new chain dirty!

Looks like you made quick work of it. I'm hoping to retro fit a pair of heavy duty forks for my tractor soon. I have a double spear set for the loader but would rather use the forks like yours.

    Thank you. Appreciated.

I also dropped a couple standing dead Pine and scrappy, twisted Ash that were in the way. The top 2/3s of the dead Pine will make good shoulder firewood for April. I need to get back out there sometime and bring it in so it doesn't get snowed or rained on.

I am basically cutting a new trail, plenty wide enough for the tractor, through some decent Pines taking some good straight trees. Then going off to each side and taking one here and there from each side. Trying to thin them out a bit. And I will meet up with a trail I started from the other side when I was working on getting Ash logs and firewood. Should make for some nice trails through the property for getting firewood/logs and just for walking and enjoying the property more. There are many areas of the property that we hardly ever spent any time in over the years because there was no good trails. Time for that to change.

Yup. Here is that standing dead. I just put it in the truck. Then took a walk through the woods a bit. Nice when the temps are like this and it's light out till now. Didn't even need a hat. Sun is going down.
