But now not so sure check the sap out that's coming from under the bark and its real sticky what do y'all think?

Maybe red maple? Idk if the bark gets the furrowed or not?

 

Tulip poplar. Heartwood not as green as it can be but it looks to have some of the hue in there.

 

Just spilt those pieces not to easy kind of stringy.

 

I don't think it's maple anymore.

 

Definitely not oak. Not great with wood ID but I do know it isn't oak, cherry, elm, boxelder or cottonwood.

 

Some sort of gopher poplar. Toss a split in and gopher another rinse and repeat all day and all of the night.

 

Did the bark change or stay the same as it got toward the branches? Any pictures of the branch wood?

 

Not tulip I can pretty much say 100%

The barks looks like Sweetgum to me. I am not familiar with what the insides of a Sweetgum look like as I have never cut into one.

 

Kinda looks like Cottonwood to me, Cottonwood is stringy too but I don't know, what does it smell like?

 

Bark sure does but not the wood. Sweet gum I've seen is primarily white with some black streaks. I hate the stuff. Have to be real cold to process one

 

I'll second Sweetgum.
Those darker red streaks around the heart wood, the splits shear off on growth rings of bigger rounds judging from the wheelbarrow pic.

Keep it top covered during seasoning to prevent mushroom growth, should be ready to burn in 12-18months, good shoulder season wood.

 

Not cotton wood. For a round that size the bark would be much thicker.

 

believe it to be a popular types .. it's spring so a lot of sap is sweet and sticky right now.. but I haven't cut much down south... let it dry and it.
