I found an oak that had broken off and landed on an elm tree. The oak was at the top of a rock wall and the elm is halfway down the rock wall. The top of the oak is over the ditch next to the road. I took pics from both sides to give a bit of perspective. The rock wall I am talking about is the wall of rock when the road was put in and they had to cut thru a side of a hill.
To be honest...NO, but even looking at that i know my limits. Ive learned its okay to turn it down, sometimes, maybe, possibly, well on the rare occasion. How much wood you think is there Eric?
Maybe a half cord. I do have easy access to where the oak stump is. If I would cut off some of the trunk, it may tip forward to make it easier to get. With my luck, county highway guys might stop by and deal with it.
That’s really hard to tell from those pics it’s such a big snarl. But one thing I would highly recommend you do first is clear cut all those little 2-3” snags and saplings that will be a huge hindrance to being able to move and get out of the way when FEAR kicks in…that’s Ef Everything And Run! You want a clear pathway out of danger and those little snags will really be a hindrance to your safety if you do decide to go for it. Just start on the outside and circle your way in closer a little at a time. If you can clear out all that little stuff first it might not be as bad as it looks.
Not much to ponder in my opinion....I'd leave it where it is. Looks like a headache and not worth the time.
