I Went from the Oslo to the Princess so I have several cords that need to be cut from 22" to 16". I know some of you have those sawbuck things to cut splits down. For me that would involve finding my hammer, which is a chore in itself and the only saw i own is my chainsaw. I decided to try the lazy way... I know, shocking.
I measured and drew a line in the bottom of my wood hauler, stacked the splits hanging over the edge, wedged a 4x4 in to keep it stable, and made my cuts. Not to bad for a lazy bum.
I could have used one of those chalk line things you carpenters use to cut things straight.
Anyway, it was easy, just how I like it.

Just like many other ways, it works! This is called making do with what you have on hand and you did very well. That looks like a wagon from Tractor Supply.

If you wrap a ratchet strap around the whole set-up everything will stay nice and tight till the cutting is done.

As long as you keep the chain well away from the wagon should be all good. My "shortening jig" has plenty of divots in it from my saw though :emb:

I don't remember where I picked up this philosophy, but I have a saying, "If you have a tough job to do, give it to the laziest man you have, he will find the easiest way to get it done." I personally like your solution to the problem, as does everybody else.
