I heated with a 1557M for a few years. Got tired of running to the basement all the time, and setting an alarm on the really cold nights so we didn't wake up to a 60° house. The thing makes a ton of heat, and burns a lot of wood. I burned good wood as clean as I could, and got away with cleaning the chimney mid and end of season. It was what I could afford at the time, and I don't regret it. I still have it in the basement, disconnected from the ductwork, and burn it if the BK needs a little help (like -20 and windy o_O) or if I want to do something down there.

Jeff, I don't have mine into duct I have it strategically installed next to the stairs in the basement heat rises. we vary rarely ever wake up to 60. usually my wife keeps it in the mid to upper 70's. only time we turn on the blower is when it get's below 10 and the wind is blowing hard. We keep the bedrooms closed sleep better in the cool.
