Went from a 3 day weekend to a 6 possibility 7 day work week because of snow. I can’t remember the last time I unlocked the saws, or made a split. While moving wood into the house this afternoon I noticed this cool texture on a piece of bark.

Waiting for Eric VW to say he sees it everyday

Funny thing is, that’s what my skin looks like somewhat recently.
    Concerning, to say the least.

Yep, I went outside today to hand split some wood because I got tired of sitting around in the house.
It was snowing and 12 degrees out. My wife thought I was crazy. I just needed to do something for an hour or so.

I split what locust I still had in rounds last Sunday afternoon as that storm was kicking up, I love working firewood up out back in the winter.

Just had a blow yesterday that shut down the north half of the state. 35 mph sustained wind, 50 mph gusts, visibility was at best maybe 100 yards and down to 50 feet. Let it blow out and tonight was shovel out time. City plow left a ridge that is impossible for a snow blower so shovel it is. Wish I had been splitting some wood instead so I would have a pile of splits to show for hour and a half of work when it is -15° instead of another pile of snow.

My wife and daughter have covid also and it’s starting to feel like my bionic lumberjack antibodies are wearing thin. Need to make firewood soon, but it’s supposed to snow again tonight.

I find that reaping the benefits of our labor, burning all the wood (turning up the temperature) that you want is a satisfying reward while being indoors a whole lot more than were used to.
But yes, I get the dog staring out the window feeling after way too many 4:30 sunsets and blustery winds that I surrender to. Just cold (and sunny) is fine with me. The days are getting longer

One thing about ND is it doesn't take a lot of snow to plug things. All that open country and wind is not always a blessing.

I guess I'm the other way around, I love snow and winter. Makes things a bit more challenging but would much rather have snow and winter than hot and summer. The only thing I look forward to during summer is June 21st, because that means on June 22 the days are getting shorter and fall/winter are coming.

I'm with you on the comparison, I shut down above 80 for the most part depending on job at hand.
    The sunshine deficiency "thing"
can creep up on me during the winter if I'm not busy, if I'm not busy! If I'm not busy!!!:loco:
Lately I've taken advantage of the (dark) weather by getting to some long awaited repairs and maintenance done in the shop, also kept at a cozy 60* with the wood boiler.

I'm right there with you! I've about run out of chain to grind. A while back my cousin gave me his seized 55 Rancher which had a case w/ about 3-4 chains. I've resorted to converting it from safety to non.

I'm with you. We went from 50 degrees on Sunday to below 0 this week. I don't mind the snow but when it melts and then freezes, and melts and freezes, you might as well dump concrete all over the place. Chain sharpening is on the agenda for me tonight.
