image.jpeg image.jpeg Bought this from a timber faller. It's a 266xp originally, supposed to have a big bore kit on it. So, now it's a 268, has a 272 carb on it, full wrap bars, and a 24'' bar, with a Kevlar starter rope. I have to admit it does run pretty strong and it does what it's supposed to do. I'm not as disappointed now as I was after I bought it and really looked it over. Now, I really like it, put a new chain on it and cleaned it up a bit, I like it even more. Forgot to add it was made in Tomas Slovenia

I got 1.5 cords of 20-40" black locust. I don't have a splitter, only 8lb maul. Nope, nada, no way. My 272 and I were Noodlin' Fools.

I have husky 77 With 20 inch .404 chain 1974 model . Still kicking out serious chips . There like bullet proof . It's cut wood every year since 1984
It's not a shelf sitter .Its still in service . Even young bucks say Dam that saw can cut wood everyone carries on how heavy it is but when they see that spray .404 chips .. they know it's big dog stuff ..

Do your moisture readings stay readable with time and what did you use to mark?

Well took my other old husky 266 XP out to my friend today to see if he had the trigger parts i needed. He pulls out a pretty toasted model 61, yup, its got the correct trigger and coveted trigger spring!! Took ''us'' about 15 min to get the parts out, and installed in the 266XP, now it has the correct trigger, and the proper notch for locking the trigger when i start it. The guy who owned it, probably took it out since he was a faller and it would just be in his way. He also has removed the brake, i'm sure, because it added weight. Plus i have added a pretty nice clutch cover. Pretty soon, it'll be too "pretty" to take wood cuttin, lol.

ha,ha,oh boy, that might be like pulling teeth. I try to use all my saws if even for a couple of hours. just to keep them in ''shape''. I cut wood with my 044 last year, had not started it for some time. I use nothing but aviation fuel in all my small motors including my 2 motorcycles, and my ATV. Even after not starting the 044 for quite some time, i put fresh mixed gas in it, and it fired within 2 pulls! I also start my 2 honda generators fairly regularly, same thing, they both start within a couple of pulls. Then i let them run till they warm up good, shut them off. Its worked all these years, and you ( I ) tend to ''bond'' with these darned mechanical things, learn their little quirks and such, so, its hard to let them go, lol
