    Hello
This is an 11 year old Harman insert with all original parts.
This is it! Removing the auger and wire wheeling the Auger and Auger chute and installing a brand new auger motor did nothing to change that wicked loud squeal! Just listen to this!

    What to do now?

There is a big sealed bearing on the back end of the auger and when I spin it by hand out of the stove, I hear a slight clicking noise.
However it can also be the fact that the fins are not thoroughly welded on to the shaft and when it expands when running it the hot stove and rubs very slightly against the inside of the auger tube, the frequency it rubs at creates the very high pitch whine.
The new augers have 3 big long welds on the fins so when I pull this one again, I will compare them.

Squeal just sounds faster then the auger would be turning.

Never heard an auger run continuously for that long (with exception of Englander PDV & PDVC).

The Harman augers run at 4 RPMs a lot faster than most other stoves

Does the auger run continuously when the stove is in test mode?

The new auger has slightly smaller diameter fins and 3 weld spots with an extra one in the middle instead of just 2 at each end that the original auger has!!
The auger bearing is nice and quiet too.
1st pic - new auger on right and old auger on left

TLDR; at that age, that XXV is a chain drive unit. Just for suggestion's sake, have you taken a good look at the motor bracket, chain, sprocket, and feed motor? If its cockeyed, can put undue pressure on the feed motor and auger bearing, and jack the auger to an angle. That being said, its not cheap to change out the sprockets and feed more and bracket- they make a kit for it, but its spendy. I would guess a guy could open the back and try and listen for the noisy component, then replace one part at a time. If the sprocket teeth are really sharp, they need changed.....chain is probably ok. Feed motor, 11 years old? Probably time for that. Likely not the auger. I have also seen the linkage bearing squeel.....the one that travels inside the feeder armature....its sometimes these little devils that can drive you crazy!

    Yea, thats loud.
