My friend said he had 4 trees he thought should come down. He asked me about taking care of that. I found 6 that should be looked at and perhaps taken down. Way beyond my capabilities, so a hired tree company came in and took 12 trees down.
We got 11 cord out, what I thought might be 4 to 6.....
I found 2 more eab kills, one rather dead, and the other getting there. Both larger trees 30"+DBH. Im not sure why the tree company didnt take those two. But I mentioned it to my friend.
Sirchopsalot Jr. and I went out there today to kill some time. We cut and split a bunch of small stuff, did some noodling, and cut a few big awkward pieces that I didnt want to deal with while there was primo wood still on the ground.

    There, we saw this....

    the boy for size reference....
The bottle is what happened after...
buZZsaw BRAD , this was across the driveway from where we all were this fall.

It fell in last weeks storms, and took 4 smaller (maple) trees with it. It fell from my friends property, onto the neighbors. The boat was junk before, but now the boat AND trailer are junk.
I dont know that we will get to clean this up....but the 4 smaller trees make a cord, and the big ash looks to be 2 cord alone.
We scoped it out good, I can back the trailer right to the trees. If offered, I'd be a fool not to hit it hard.
So much for the final chapter!

    Nice supply of wood.

I hope you have space to stack it.

Since cutting everything to 22", and making all our stacks 3 rows wide and 6' tall, yup we've found space. The 4.5 cord stack when stacked like this, now holds 9 cord of ash and 3/4 cord green SS wood.
    Extemporaneous wood scores are fun.

generally I'm a monosyllabic guy, that was a polysyllabic word. I don't use many of those, they get my poor brain bound for days.

I got the email a couple days ago. We've been "awarded" this Ash score.
I have a small oak job in the doing right now, but hope to hit this in the next couple weeks.
I can stack the brush neatly anywhere handy, so no long pulls to a brush pile.

Last night after work, I hit this score, the boat tree. I got the tops all cut and most of the brush tossed in a stack.
Today, I hit it again, staring around 9, ending at 630. All the trees except the trunk of the ash, are bucked. The main trunk of the Ash id resting well on the stern of the boat, so I'll get a line around the long end of the Ash, and hope to pull if off the boat. I cant cut in the boat as there is trash inside the boat.

I cut the 3 maples that were snapped off and one laying flat on the ground. One maple was so kinky, it wasn't worth splitting, even if cut short.

No splitting happened today, just running the saw. I will get a pic of what is left when I'm back to split. This wood is dry enough, it will go to friends so they can burn it sooner than I would need any wood. I got some for me, just to stay motivated, but the shorts for those guys will be easy splittin'.

Doggo kept me company all day, and Stumpy showed up bringing lunch. And the weather was perfect, 70's, breezy, sunny.

One like that had more issues though. That relationship ended before things got too hot.
    Nice kid, lotsa issues.
From time to time I wonder.
But, not even as a side salad.

Day three..got all the wood cut, and off the boat. Gave it a pull with the truck.
The trailer under the boat is pretty intact, in need of rubber and paint mostly. I wonder if the owner will part with it?

    I
It gets me out of the house for a bit before or after work, when everyone's up and about. Swinging the maul for a short while today.....then home for house chores when everyone's gone.
The solitude time is unmatched here too.

Bit frosty here. Got a lite frost this morning.
