I tested my carrier yesterday; I will be posting photos of the carrier, how I built it, etc. This afternoon I decided to see how quickly/easily I could split that load. By the way, I think I can haul more than I did yesterday without any problems. I do need to work on the lift a bit, I think it is leaking at the cylinder; I rebuilt the pump after we had the engine work done and it has few hours on it. Anyway, I decided to get my little splitter out and go to work splitting that load. I wish I had timed it and I think I will do a time check in the future. However, splitting that load was quick with the little splitter. I had some huge rounds; although cut short, and I tried splitting with my axe and the axe just stuck in the wood. However, my little splitter had no problems cracking open those big rounds. I include a photo of the finished work.

I got a load from the little valley and did a time test. I went from the rounds to the split in 18 minutes.

IMHO, a splitter is an indispensable tool if you are going to burn even a small amount of wood.

    X2!
That looks like easy wood to split either way, but you only have one back and thousand things to do with that one back. So work smart every time you can. I am glad that little splitter did the job. Wish I had one earlier on.

While a larger splitter might be nice, and a gasoline one can be taken to the woods, that little splitter was all I could afford; I brought it used for a total of $165.00 and that price includes the fuel burned to pick it up. I used it to split some sweet gum which is a bit harder; poplar is easy due to the very straight grain. I am very pleased with my little splitter.

As for the roof vents, when they arrived two were damaged. I am sending the tow back and ordered replacement. The person at Home Depot gave me 10% back on the two damaged ones. I need to get them installed soon.

As for the carrier; I need to build some sides on it; I tried to avoid it to cut down cost and to make it lighter. I am thinking perhaps some removal sides but I may just add them on with solid.
