Locust mania :loco:  It ebbs and flows but inevitably rears its ugly head whenever an easy score of it pops up. The city took down a couple tall black locust trees about 5 minutes from my house. Saturday I grabbed a small load and got another today. Plenty more there should the opportunity come to get more (chances are high I’m going to go out of my way for that opportunity) :)

    Wow! Great score Eric!

Brad will be doing extra laundry tonight after he sees those pics and potentially soiling his trousers….

Thanks :handshake: I wasn’t planning on hoarding more until next winter, but this was too easy to pass up. The longer and larger logs will be going to a coworker that just bought a sawmill. He has an old Cub Cadet garden tractor he’s willing to give me in exchange for a couple loads of saw logs. He’s looking to build raised garden beds so this locust is just about perfect in that application. I’ll make firewood from the smaller/shorter stuff.

I've recently been told that some locusts are being removed at a friend's farm. No idea on size or quantity yet. I have dibs. I do have a few locusts but none have died or fallen lately.

That's a great score. I think a certain award should go to you...
What little I've found down here is either very small or don't have permission to take yet...

It’s a Ct thing. We have Captain Blackbeard Brad. It’s like an insurance policy to post your BL score fast. Send out a few copies to the local police too. Just in case you and the wood disappear they know where to start looking. :)

Eric has been nice enough to give me a couple BL scores in his area. He's 45 minutes from me (i know that's considered close by for you plains folks) and too far in the normal scope of things. If he wasnt taking it, more than likely i wouldve made a trip to get it. :loco:

This was an unplanned score regardless, so anything I do get is a bonus. If I go back there this afternoon and it's all gone, I won't be too heartbroken. I have other locust scores I can work at my leisure. The appeal for me with this one is I could simply flip flop these pre-cut sections into my truck and head home.

Anyone tossing lengths of BL like that in the back of a pickup doesn’t have to worry about someone else breaking their stones. Should be broke enough already :)
That said, it’s about time slacker.
