Those mobile home furnace work great for shops. Have had 2 shops heated by them. Good idea to add wheels on the tank to move it. Good price.
I thought the same thing as soon as I saw it! I've got a full tank of fuel oil at the cottage that I am slowly using for tractor fuel...only. Fuel oil heater was removed years ago.
Nice idea on the wheels... but I wonder if they strong enough for a full tank of fuel ? Look like push mower wheels..
Exactly what I was thinking, good idea but those wheels look pretty chinsy to hold the weight of a full tank.
It is a good deal for a furnace and tank. Not sure the wheels are good enough for anything more than an empty tank but you could set it up on bricks once it's in place.
I'm thinking that those wheels are only there for the moving of the fuel oil tank. Think about it...you wouldn't want the tank on wheels when its being filled up now would ya? Even if the only anchor points would be the fuel line run, the fill pipe, the vent pipe; no thanks.
looks like someone had to come up with a way to get the tank out by themself a basement under a mobile home ? A couple years ago many were switching from oil to nat gas here and tanks were free if you could remove the oil and remove the tank from the basement. I considered snagging a second tank and buying extra oil on a price dip but didn't considering the possibility of issues storing the oil. Plus I have room for extra firewood.
"Back in the day" (hahaha) we would pump the fuel left in the tank into a tank outside the house that we had set up in the back of a pickup. After removing all pipes form the tank-including the vent pipe, the fill pipe, the fuel line, and the legs, we would carry the empty tank outside using ropes or straps draped around our shoulders and attached to the leg receivers of the tank. Worked pretty damm good that way.
