47 and sunny yesterday. Been working on this one for a few weekends now. Tree was dead standing in a flooded area that finally dried out. Thought it was sugar maple but now I'm not sure. Lost a fair amount to rot but still worth the effort. Punky pieces will be moved to the campfire pile.
Testing the difference in picture quality between thumbnail and full picture. This was midway through.
Nothing wrong with red or sugar maple... I have been burning some red maple that is giving off more heat that I expected... Looks like most of it was pretty solid... Is this a weekend getaway place with a woodstove or permanent residence? I only ask since I don't see a huge hoard of seasoned wood stacks...
This is at our weekend getaway. It's a small offgrid cabin with only a woodstove for heat. I decided to start cutting all of our wood this year so the stacks aren't too big yet.
