Was too cold out for the buggy yesterday, so I used my pickup to go up on the hill and feed the deer. Camera was reset and got fresh batteries. I expect to see lots of action considering the weather we have been having. 200lbs of shell corn was dumped on top of the salt lick.

Decided to make a video of the trip. This truck has consistently exceeded expectations for off road prowess. Nary a wheel slipped climbing or descending. Maybe it's all Driver? :D

That's what I'm figuring...gotta be the driver.

Honestly, these trucks are great. I have rarely, if ever (can't think of any times) been denied as far as wanting to go somewhere (within reason) in this truck. I have Goodyear Duratracs on it that are just past their half-life at this point. The above video was done in 4WDL without aid of the rear locker.

    I love tacos. All kinds.

That said, the Tacoma is very good off road, just like it's brother the 4runner.

I love the electric blue too. Sadly my wife hates any color close to that. I've been eyeing the electric blue f150's. I looked at that color at the auto show last winter. She hated it.

While shopping for a new truck I was unaware of this color on the Tacoma's. While visiting a large dealer, I had to ask where the trucks were as there were only two on the front lot. Salesman took me around back to a row of 15 or so Tacoma's and there were two of them in blue. Had to keep my cool in front of the salesman, but knew as soon as I saw it that I was taking it home. I had originally been looking for white.

If I did not need a bed for hauling, I would own a 4runner. I think they are fantastic vehicles and quality is top tier on them.

Good looking truck! Having fun customizing?

Love the colour of the Tacoma. Ours is slate grey. Blue wasn't an option as we were looking for used at the time. Our 1999 Tacoma could go almost anywhere campinspecter want it to go. The 2014 is a bit wider but seems to be doing what we ask of it. Tows really well too.

This truck will likely have been the one and only new vehicle I will ever have purchased. Had to do it at least once. No regrets! I don't know what I'll do when 'Old Blue' is due to retire. I have another decade or so to go, but am unimpressed with the new generation of vehicles and their unnecessary (IMO) gadgets and technology. I can still perform much of any needed repairs on my current truck...no yaw sensors/safety nannies at all except anti lock brakes. Of course it has a CPU, but it's not tied directly into every facet of the truck like the new stuff is.

Indeed the Tacomas will do their fair share of work without protest. A dually diesel it is not, but that's not what I needed or wanted. After owning it for 11+ years, honestly it has just been great. It has it's little niggles...noisy window motors, a few rattles here and there, but everything still works as it should with 130,000 on the odo. Have replaced a wheel bearing in the front end...only notable repair beyond brakes, a battery and a few bulbs.

Also...it's meteor, loch ness, and ocean proof!

Love the ads. I have never seen those before.

My fav colour of Tacoma is the orange one. When we go to buy used again, I will be looking for an orange one. campinspecter likes the sand brown. It reminds him of maple walnut ice cream.

LOL! Let the Inspector know that the tan is lovingly referred to as "old man tan" on a popular Tacoma forum. I like it though. The orange ones are rare from what I know. I like the new Cement color they have.

Getting both is an expensive idea, unless you go old. My 4runner is a 2000 and my T100 is a 97. 4runner was my parents rig so I got it dirt cheap when they upgraded to a newer one. The 4runner gets driven every day while the T100 only does a few thousand miles a year for truck duty.

I owned a '95 T100 reg cab with 8' bed before the Taco. It was a solid truck also.

I like that the Runners are 100% produced in Japan (some models are 90%, I think). I would wager there is a reason that they produce them exclusively "in house" so to speak...quality control. I consider them to be among the most reliable of vehicles you can purchase today in our Country. That said, my truck is 75% USA produced, and was manufactured at the Nummi plant (GM co-op venture, now defunct) in Cali and has been stone reliable since new. I just feel like Japanese workers take great pride in their workmanship. Honor is still a big deal over there.

I was killing time at a Toyota dealership a while back. When I checked the stickers on new Tacomas, some were made in Texas, and some were made in MEXICO.

Yep, that's where production went when they closed the Nummi plant in 2010 I think. I guess the General and Toyota didn't get on too well. Most Ram trucks are made south of the border now as well as Ford Fusions and even some Silveraydoe & GMC truck models, among others.

All 4runners are made in Japan. That's a great thing. One reason why they are so good.

Our 04 v8 4runner is my wife's 3rd 'runner. It's been extremely reliable, 160k on it now. She bought this one new in January of 04.

With her 4runner and my Audi getting up there in miles and years, were really starting to search for their replacements. Sadly, while there's a ton, if not too many motor options in an F-150 for me, for her while the 4.0 yota v6 is a good motor, there's a reason she didn't buy the 4.0 v6 in an 04 4runner. It's essentially the same exact motor in a 2018 4runner, as it was in the 2003. Same 5 SPD transmission too. In the new taco, at least yota put the new dual EFI 3.5 v6 in it.[/QUOTE]

Reports from current Tacoma owners is that the new engine has given up a little bit of umph, regardless of the stats published. What I always wanted was the 4.7 V8 in the 2nd generation Tacomas like mine. Like the early Tundras had. Some 4Runners (3rd or 4th gen?) even had it in them with the same transmission that my truck has...5 speed auto.

There's an old saying that may apply to carrying the 4.0 engine over in the new gen Runners....if it ain't broke... :)
