Scored a 064 today. Popped up on CL locally. It is missing a couple screws and needs a tuneup, but the compression is surprising and it fired right up. I paid $350 for it and think I did ok?It isn't a beauty queen but it should clean up and be a strong runner.
What happened to Bill's saw shop? Anyway glad to see someone salvaged the file and it comes up. But it says max RPM is 12,000. 066 is 13,000. Is it 13k for the 064? 12k sounds too fat while 13k sounds about right? I know the Bill's file isn't always right.
Someone did but he didn't want to fool with shipping it. I saved it from the Tabscot's; you may have heard of them big logging family by Scottsville, I guess the company is still running 2 064's they bought new. Kind of says something in my book. I got there faster.
I know of them, they are in Fluvanna. They usually bring a truck or two down to Field Day of the Past for the pulls.
Yes, Now I am looking for just an 034 and 024 hopefully Supers and I will feel that I have what I want in that era of Stihls. I have no interest in owning an 084 or 088. I saw a standard 034 recently but they wanted $350 and I passed. I missed out on what looked from the photos to be a Solo 603 at the beginning of the week for $150. It was gone fast. I wasn't going to miss another saw especially one I have been looking for.
I wish I could play, With a saw so fine, And maybe one day, An 064 will be mine, But for now it seems my Husky's will do, Buy one today and you'll see what's true....
You would have liked the haiku thread over at AS. This 064 is pretty early I think. Serial # starts 120 with a Bing carb and original air filter. It was bought for firewood duty.
