Some happy little wood grain here… Okay maybe this isn’t a Bob Ross, but the scream painting comes to mind whenever I see grain like that.

That's a rather lousy reproduction of the last version of Skirk(scream) self portrait by Edvard Munch . You can stand in that exact same spot and lean against that same railing out side the city of Ekeberg, Norway and see that same bay and city in the background of the pic. You won't see the blood red sky as that was caused by the destruction of the Island of Krakatoa from a massive volcanic explosion that wiped out the whole island and filled earth's atmosphere with enough ejecta to drop the temperature of the earth a couple of degrees. To reproduce the expression on the atrist's face you would have to take several epipens and instead of injecting them into your leg like you are supposed to, inject them into the major artery leading into your heart and pretty much overdose your brain and body. When your adrenal gland does it you also get an overdose of cortisol which causes your blood sugar and insulin levels to also spike. Some women and young boys who have been raped come very close to the same experience. It's not uncommon to not "remember" the experience for a decade or longer. During a fight or flight experience memory is not a primary function. Staying alive is.

If you could cut that thin without it falling apart that would make an amazing guitar face.

I’m following right along (that was quite a ride) :)
I actually didn’t know the history of the painting or where it originated. I knew about Krakatoa from elementary school. I had no idea “Skirk” was the original name, and wonder if that’s a cognate to the English work shriek, kind of like fisk/fish etc.

I’ve split red and white oak crotches that have quite similar swirls. The only project I have done with them is stack them and burn them at a later date.

I was thinking that or milled into a slab.

I would be putting that aside and try to figure out what to do with it.

There are actually (at least) three paintings, a project that took about a decade, which parallels recovery from a true full blown panic attack. The first painting(s) are crude versions (rough drafts ? ) of the last one. He probably had ten years of nightmares and flashbacks, part of the "putting all the puzzle pieces of the experience together" The "experts " always get the date(s) of the painting(s) wrong and even the story behind the paintings.
Some (modern) Norwegian words have Roman/Greek roots and most are from Old Norsk which can be awful to pronounce.
