My son has a suzuki lt80 that I am having problems with. It will not start. It cranks and cranks. The carb was just cleaned and am getting 130 for compression. Is that good compression for that motor? Everything I've found says it's good compression. Thinking maybe the exhaust is clogged or the petcock. Anyone got any ideas?

Petcock is an easy check. Just pull the line from the carb (with petcock in Off position), then hold a cup or other container underneath and turn it On.

Did it run before the carb cleaning??

Have you pulled the plug and checked for spark?

When was the last time the air filter was checked/cleaned?

More or less ran out of time fooling with it. Going to try to check it out some more tomorrow. Has spark and my boy was running it and it just shut off. Does anyone know if they have a shutoff if the oiler craps out on them?

Vacuum petcock or no? This is a two-stroke?

I would make sure the petcock works, both in "prime" and normal modes. I'm not real familiar with this individual machine, even tho I'm pretty sure a good friend of mine has one for his son.

That's probably going to be my first mode of attack as soon as I get a chance.

Turns out it was the simplest of things. The motor was extremely flooded. Stood it straight up on back wheels and cranked until it started.:emb::doh: my boy will be happier than a pig in chit and tearing up the yard on 4 wheels again.:dancer::dex::rootintootin::banana:

Oh yea he loves it. Between that and his dirt bike it's a wonder I have any grass. He wants to race flat track but my wife does not like the idea of that.

We went for a ride tonight. Was a tough place for my son to learn a few years ago, but now hes rock crawling. There's some serious boulders out back that he hasn't tried yet, but here's his suzuku LT185. Cheers!
