Hey guys, I need your input. A friend came across an interesting saw today. He found a pretty decent looking
Stihl 084 av that needs a new home. I don't really have a need for a saw this big...(but define need?)
My question....is this an obsolete saw? Can I still find parts? I don't know much about the condition and haven't heard it run yet. I just have a pic to show what he found. Any thoughts?

Have you grabbed it yet? That 084 is much better than 'decent' looking. IF you need parts, be prepared ... you'll probably not find them for cheap.

Probably use a few times, then flip it. I believe it has a 32" bar fro the pics.
Who knows...might love it and keep it? I do have an addiction! :saw::saw:

That looks like a super nice 084! I would start at $500 and see what he says.

Nice score . Prolly an early to mid 90's saw by looking at photos. Parts readily available.

I'm with Clint. If it runs, start at $500. That is a clean 084.

I traded my stock 084 for a echo pole saw and poulan 3816 and guy pay shipping both ways. I was asking $500 PHO. )

84's are nice. I have sold 5 and owned 4. 2 woods ported, 1 race ported, 1 stock. Sold the ported ones $800-$900 and and 2 with b+c.

Parts getting harder to find and pricey. When guys found out in Ohio I was getting out of the 084's they drove to my house picking up boxes of left over NOS and used parts.
