How to Bake Like A Man - Firestarters

    1. Make yourself some dry wood chips. These came from a 35yr old echo chainsaw. These were spread out and dried on hot pavement.

    7. Drink a beer and wait.
    20160618_193914.jpg

    8. Remove your pan once the wax has melted and set aside to cool. You can use a freezer or refrigetaor to accelerate this stage.

    9. Remove the firestarter from the wrapper and take off the loose crumbly edges.

    10. SET THAT chit ON FIRE.

These fire starters will produce a solid flame for about 10 minutes.

A good idea, simple for anyone to do....

Just don't pass out from the beer while the concoction is baking.....might end up with a bigger fire than you can handle!!

I would leave the cupcake liners on. Less mess and they would burn.

Wonder if these are safe for cat stoves? It's not like the cat is engaged when you use them.

I actually experimented with on or off. Off was far better, the wrapper didn't bur away completely and would hinder the burn. Super Cedars don't have a wrapper....

Wax was $6, muffin liners $2/100... had some wax left after 100 starters so .07ish each.

So did you try without the liners? I wonder if they would pop out of the pan and you could eliminate the hassle and cost.

I've been using the walmart fire starter blocks for fireplaces (wax/sawdust log) and cutting them up into little cubes for many years in my cat stove. I hope it isn't hurting the cat. I don't engage the cat for a long time after initial light off so any wax smoke would be long gone.

In the shop I use the map gas torch. Man that's nice. Almost want one of those in the house but the wife may think it strange.
