I just ordered a Sugi lightweight bar yesterday. I was wondering if any of you guys have tried them out? How is the durability of these bars? Thanks in advance.
I think will be better to make the thread first ........................ and then buy the bar tsumura, sugihara, GB , total ,cannon are top notch bars
Got one on a ms 261 for about a year and a half. Letters are getting messed a little but still looks good, not much wear on the rails, the chain really glides across the rail smoothly, oils good, but what I like the most is that the replaceable tip is the same width as the groove. I can't think of one time that chain has popped off.
I doubt you'll hate it! They make a nice bar and they balance on the saw great! Is this for the 372xp? What length?
So the real question is "Which are lighter? The Sugi Hara bars or the Tsumura Light and Tough bars?" An inquiring mind wants to know!
someone send me a sugi 20" large husky or stihl mount and i will "test" them. seriously though...i think the light and tough may be lighter but not sure. all i have for sugi bars is a few 20" small mount husky and the light and tough arent available in 20" small mount. here are some weights from small mount husky 20" bars. total super t838FV4/ dolmar branded prolite/sugi
Here is a lite and tough 20" large husky IIRC. this weight on a large husky is the reason i thing the light and tough would be the lighter of the sugi vs tsumura.
Personally i dont stuck in some grams diferent but in the whole quality maybe some bar is far more lighter but the quality maybe is a tinker
What units are your meas What units is your balance reading in? I've got the 20", 24", and 28" large mount Husky Tsumura L&Ts. I'll set my balance to read the same units as yours and we can see how things compare. The only downside is that I'm curious about the small mount Husky bars, which makes the comparison a little less useful. I need to buy bars for a 550XPG and I'd prefer to buy whichever is lighter between Sugi Hara and Tsumura.
it is just a postal scale....lbs/ozs. i have plenty of the large husky 20/24/28 lite and tough. i dont sell the sugi bars so dont have any of those here to weigh except for the 20" small mount. I ordered 20" small mount light and tough...they should be here in another month or so. when they show up i will weigh one and have an apples to apples comparison.
Just adding a little to this. weighed some bars the other day and came up with some interesting results. Its no wonder light weight bars are popular among the pro's and hacks alike. Stihl ES 30030008822 Total Super T202FV4 Total Super Light and Tough T202FK4
I'll skip the details and go to the OP question: yes you ordered a great bar. Not sure about long life, but I can say that when I attempted to dress the wear edges on my Sugi bar using a file, the bar steel was harder than a regular Husky bar. About the only thing a Sugi or other lightweight bar could have issue with is breaking apart. I'm sure if you wedged it in a cut and pried, you could, but I've not heard of that. And a firewood guy has other things to worry about before the bar in that situation (as in: what foolish thing led to this?)
