Sugar Maple goes fast

    Last spring while mushroom hunting I saw that this SM didn’t leaf out. Not sure why but was going to css it this winter. In bow season I saw that some bark was falling off the tops but wasn’t concerned. I dropped it yesterday and couldn’t believe how rotten it was. [​IMG]
    I was able to get 2 12’ logs out of the trunk but most of it looks to be spalted. I’ll pick and choose what will burn.

    Well...we all know every little bit helps. I know it can feel disappointing when you are expecting a better score, but at least it isn't all going to waste and little piles add up to big stacks over time...and that keeps the propane bill down!

    Yeah sugar maple goes punky fast.

    I've found that spalted sugar maple still makes good heat.
