Sugar Maple Bark

    I found this piece of bark in a stack of sugar maple. It is very dense and thick. It’s going in the stove.

    Looks like it came off a large old tree. I have plenty of ~50 year old and younger sugar maple in my stacks and the bark isn’t that thick.

    Why not, its btu's. Dont think ive ever seen SM that thick. Sugar maple is one bark that i will save if it falls off a split. Ive had it come off while splitting fresh green wood. Happens in the hot weather IME.
