Something I have glanced at a few times. Anybody that has one and how are they ? I do occasionally dress a chain when out cutting but usually just hold it the best I can on the tailgate and give a few passes with the file.

I have a Stihl stump vise and I love it. I do all my sharpening with it. The Oregon stump vise doesn’t compare, so don’t waste your money.
Ones an F250 and the other is a Geo metro.

Ive thought about getting one as its a PITA to field sharpen on my tailgate. I've considered attaching a piece of lumber to stab with it since I don't often have access to a stump when I'm at a score.

I have one , maybe used it once.
I would probably just do a quick chain swap in the field and sharpen when I get home , or go to saw #2.

If you guys sharpen at your trucks why not mount a small bench vice to a short 2x10

Don't buy the Oregon vise. The Stihl vise works much better.

2-3 rounds lined up will work, but you’ll have to kneel. I have mine stuck in a massive butt cut of a log, so I can stand. I file facing the end of the bar with both hands applying forward pressure towards the cutting edges.

I use a C-lamp on a slab with a layer of open cell foam under it so it doesn't slide around. Works on the table saw in the shop or on the tailgate of the truck. That way it's always at a comfortable height.
